How to relax

Just came back from a massive day of placement. It was a really full-on day with sessions running back to back and there was hardly time to even get a drink. Now it's time to put my feet up and... get blogging.

From Weeks 26-28, 2011

Been a while since I actually blogged properly. My parents' birthday came and went, my sister and BIL's visit from Singapore... came and went. Now it's almost back to uni and it's time to really settle and think about *gasp* the future after graduating.

But first~ relax relax!
Of course, chocolate always does the trick. In fact, I've been having so much chocolate recently, it's a wonder I'm not sick of it. Heck, who am I kidding, sick of chocolate? Never~

From Weeks 26-28, 2011
It's always great to win something~ even if it's as cheap as scoring a free Twix bar from the 1 in 6 chances~ it was my first bar too!

Then it was a wonderful chocolate fondue prepared by Sheep during our high school hotpot at FL's place~

From Weeks 26-28, 2011
Strawberries are nice, but what really stood out were the citrus fruits, like orange in a fondue. Always had a soft spot for citrus in chocolate.

From Weeks 26-28, 2011
One of FL's friend made white chocolate and raspberry friands as well. It was just So good.

From Weeks 26-28, 2011
You wouldn't believe the amazing texture this friand had... crunchy skin, soft and sweet inside.

Then it was chocolate at Lindt Cafe with my parents and sis and BIL, where I had an iced mocha.

From Weeks 26-28, 2011
Needless to said, this mocha was outstanding, but it also defeated me. A very formidable chocolate.

From Weeks 26-28, 2011
BIL's hot chocolate. Dark of course. Can't be anything else really, not an option.

From Weeks 26-28, 2011
And despite being quite defeated, there was still enough energy to take down this knight of a Dark Truffle.

And revived back in the night for some Lindt cake, which, in another entry, was my dad's birthday cake.

Now I can't tell if chocolate is meant to be relaxing or not, but when taken in moderation, it's a super good thing! As are most things actually hm...

No moderation for this blog entry though!

Molten larva... drown in chocolate, sweeten thy soul at San Churros~

From Weeks 26-28, 2011
Terrible terrible lighting. Poor Stanley was working extremely hard.

Chocolate cannot be enjoyed properly without making a mess :D

From Weeks 26-28, 2011
Have a break from chocolate. On to fried goodness~ This is fried bocconcini, a type of cheese. I have a soft spot for fried cheese.

And dips.

And fried ice cream. Seriously, it's been years since I had my last fried ice cream. During a catch up session with BT, we had this for dessert. Did I mention I like ice cream? Deep fried ice cream only made it ten times better! :D But wait, ice cream itself is only the penultimate dessert.

From Weeks 26-28, 2011
Now put the two together. Ice cream (no, not fried, just normal) with chocolate and you get the ultimate :D Hot and cold, from San Churros.

But of course, life isn't just about going out and...

From Weeks 26-28, 2011
splurging on relaxing albeit luxurious food. Or even peering through windows in envy at those who are enjoying the food you cannot have.

From Weeks 26-28, 2011
My way of lowering cost and still relaxing is sitting at home with a cup of Earl Grey (I use cheap teabag ones, but feel free to use loose leaf tea if you're not as lazy as I am)... cheaper in the bulk of course. Just chuck it into the trolley the next time you go shopping with someone else and they are paying (jk).

And grab yourself a bag of these roasted peanuts, still in their shell. Available in most Asian supermarkets, I prefer the "blue horse" brand. I actually don't know the brand, but there's a blue horse on the packet. Just get that one. I've tried others... some are too salty, some are flavorless, some are hard to crack, others are too big. Yes, size matters, especially peanuts.

From Weeks 26-28, 2011
Then you begin. The meditative act of grabbing a peanut, cracking it with your fingers, popping the 1, 2 or 3 nuts into your mouth, before discarding the shell into a bowl close by and automatically reaching for another. Get into the drone of it and you'll start wondering how long it'll be before you finish the whole pack.

That's when you practice some self-restraint. Leave the now half-empty bag of peanuts and drink your tea before it gets cold.
